Our Gardening + Online Marketing Analogy
Gardening + Online Marketing, What’s the Deal?
It started when we began a garden together. We did a lot of research on vegetables we like to eat, flowers we enjoy, what will grow well in our zone, and the course of the sun and wind through our yard.
Once our garden started really taking off, we realized that having a garden is like having a business. Our analogy is that gardening is a lot like online marketing. Having a garden requires regular tending like watering, weeding, fertilizing, and organic pest control, just to name a few. In today’s new world, every business has a reason to be online. And just like a garden, every business is unique and it’s because of this our approach will never be “cookie cutter.”
For businesses to grow, they need tending too.
For businesses to grow, they need tending as well. Each function of gardening can easily correlate to aspects of online marketing. Fertilizing your garden is like posting a new high quality blog post or sending out a strategic email campaign. Why? Because fertilizers provide nutrients your garden needs to thrive. Similarly, blogging good content will help grow search engine optimization (SEO) and a well thought out email campaign can help obtain your goals or objectives. Your online presence needs nutrients too.
Watering is like using social media to grow your online community or sharing special offers in exchange for an email address to grow your list. Weeding is like keeping your website up to date on the front and back end or maintaining online listings and reviews.
When something seems wrong with growth in the garden it’s pretty much the same as in business.
Sometimes just a few plants in the garden start to go awry. This could happen for various reasons and the only way to know that things are changing is to be regularly tending the garden. When something seems wrong with growth in the garden it’s pretty much the same as in business. It must be investigated, researched, a solution found, and swift action taken. In a way, it’s like organic pest control. It’s important to keep in mind that in order to know if your online presence is going awry or not growing at all is to be tending to it.
We may have only started our garden at the beginning of the pandemic, but we have a history of success helping businesses grow! With our backgrounds in online marketing, branding, and web design, we can start down a long road of business vs garden comparisons, but we think at this point, you get our analogy, and we’ll just leave you at that for now.
