Participate in an interactive experience in a Pilates Mat class from Maui Pilates Studio and some shelter dogs who are looking to be fostered or adopted. This is a donation-based class and all proceeds will benefit Maui Humane Society! No Pilates experience is necessary, just a desire to make a difference and a better future for these four-legged friends! ProArts Playhouse hosts their 3rd Hui Mo‘olelo Film Festival on Saturday, April 27th at 3PM and the public is invited to this premiere of a new collection of animated film shorts that celebrate Maui’s history, culture, and sense of place. The result of their most recent call to artists, the works stem from our Hui Mo’olelo program partnership with the County of Maui and Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House/Maui Historical Society. Free to the public by RSVP, audience members will experience the premiere of 7 individual animated talk-story films, each between 3 to 5 minutes in length, as well as an offering by Maui Public Art Youth Task Force leader Kekaulaiwi Farm. Audience members and story participants will be invited to share their reflections for a Q&A to conclude the event.

Hui Teaching Artist, Caitlyn Madrid will teach students how to prepare to string local flora and fauna, flowers and seeds. Skills learned include needle placement technique, lei making and pattern organization and the traditional lei kui style of making lei that is a straight pattern or the classic lei style most people learn first. This is an “anykine lei day” workshop using locally sourced flora and fauna.
