LOVE\nG. Love & Special Sauce is an American Hip-Hop Blues band known for its unique fusion of hip-hop\, blues\, funk\, and soul. Formed in 1993 in Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania\, the band originally featured Garrett Dutton\, aka G. Love\, as the lead vocalist and guitarist\, Jeffrey Clemens on drums\, and Jim Prescott on bass. The trio quickly gained attention for their laid-back\, groovy style and G. Love’s unique vocal delivery\, blending rap-like spoken word with bluesy singing.\nTheir debut self-titled album\, G. Love & Special Sauce\, was released in 1994 on Epic Records and included the hit single “Cold Beverage\,” which became popular on alternative radio stations and MTV\, solidifying their presence in the music scene. The band’s style has been described as a mix of “slacker blues” and “alternative hip-hop\,” as they frequently incorporate elements of 90s hip-hop beats with classic blues rhythms.\nOver the years\, G. Love & Special Sauce has released numerous albums\, including Coast to Coast Motel (1995)\, Yeah\, It’s That Easy (1997)\, The Electric Mile (2001) and the GRAMMY nominated The Juice (2020). Their sound evolved to include more soul\, R&B\, and rock influences\, though they retained their laid-back vibe and clever lyrical play. Their 2014 album Sugar saw a reunion of the original lineup after several years\, and they continued to tour and produce music with a loyal fan base.\nKnown for their energetic live performances\, G. Love & Special Sauce has played at festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Garrett Dutton also frequently collaborates with other artists\, including Jack Johnson\, with whom he shares a similar vibe\, and has released solo projects that dive deeper into his blues influences. G. Love & Special Sauce remains a beloved name in the music scene\, blending genres in a way that feels fresh and authentic.\nPō & the 4Fathers\nPō & the 4Fathers is a unique musical experience that delivers a lyrical message that is powerful and clear with a modern Kanaka Maoli perspective. The band is deeply rooted in Hawaiian culture\, Polynesian rhythms\, and indigenous sounds\, as well as the music that has moved generations like reggae\, soul\, blues\, funk\, and hip hop. They write songs of joy\, hardship\, pain and triumph\, learned from shared experiences from the time of Pō to the present\, and into the future.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Back to Upcoming

SUMMARY:Sundays in the Country with Swing Star
DESCRIPTION:AG Presents and Casanova Makawao welcome Swing Star to the Aloha Music Series\, Sundays in the Country\, at Casanova’s in Makawao Town on Sunday\, May 24th.\nOn first listen\, Swing Star’s swirling sounds owe much to the gypsy guitar of Django Reinhardt\, but as the ear adapts\, it’s clear that this quartet sounds like no other. It creates an exciting feeling as a dance band\, soothing and elegant background music\, or in a concert performance setting.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nCasanova Makawao\nSunday\, May 24th1pm-3pm\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nSHOW DETAILS\nTickets $20+1.40 (processing fee)OR $20 at doorDoors open at 11:30amShow starts at 1pmTables are first-come\, first-served.Food & drinks servedthroughout the day.\n\n\n \n BUY TICKETS\n \n \n \n \n \n Follow Us\n \n \n \n \n \n FollowFollowFollow\n \n \n \n \n \n More Details Below! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Swing Star\nSwing Star’s originality stems from being collective stars. Like an astute big band\, Swing Star’s musicians are equally luminescent. At any moment\, a guitar\, clarinet\, or bass will take center stage.\nOne moment\, the twin tickling of guitars traipsed through the streets of pre-WWII Paris\, the next\, a bustle of Latin licks spawned sounds hotter than a molten Brazilian night.\nGuitarist Steve Elliott became smitten with and inspired by Django’s music and guitar mastery. Shortly after moving from Southern California to Maui\, he started searching for like-minded musicians.\nIt wasn’t long after that when Michael Guzalak (clarinet\, tenor sax\, vocal\, percussion) joined in\, after working in a similar style band\, One Leg UP\, for 15 years in Asheville\, NC.\nThe band is driven on the low end by bassist David Graber\, or Ganis\, perhaps the finest bass players on Maui\, and a joy to hear.\nThe newest member\, Bita Fonseca\, is an extraordinary Brazilian guitarist the bring an authentic sound to the different styles of Latin and world music covered by the band.\nAccessible to even the most discerning ear\, Swing Star cozies comfortably with large crowds or the most minuscule of private parties. Their blissful sounds spill onto the dance floor\, creating an infectious aura that can arouse the dancer in everyone.\nAbout Casanova Makawao\nSince 1986\, Casanova Makawao has been at the heart of the Upcountry Maui lifestyle. At the main crossroad of Historic Makawao town\, Casanova was Maui’s first wood-burning oven. Offering fresh salads\, pastas\, seafood\, and pizzas\, in 2017\, OpenTable diners rated Casanova the Best Italian Restaurant in the State of Hawaii.
