Join Maui artist Zenobia Lakdawalla for an artist walkthrough of her Solo Exhibition “The Temperature of Color” on display at Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center. “The Temperature of Color” is an exhibition of new work that defines the potential of line through multi-disciplinary practices in graphic design, print-making, and three-dimensional materials. It is an exploration in the luminescence and chromaticity of color and the visual perception of color and light. This event is free and open to the public.

Join Teaching Artist, Caitlyn Madrid, in an immersive three-hour lei hili workshop. Students will learn the hili method of lei-making, which is braiding or weaving of a single plant material– in this case, ti leaf. Students will also learn the integral skill of placement of leaves and flowers between twists to secure them in the lei. Students will learn ti leaf preparation, as well as the traditional Hawaiian style of lei hili. Students will complete the workshop as they design and weave their lei, including the essential skill of tying it off. Class participants will leave the class with a beautiful, handmade Maile Ti Leaf Lei. All supplies and materials will be provided.
