FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aloha Growers Signs Modern Kanaka Maoli Band,
Pō & the 4Fathers
HAWAII (October 19, 2023) – Aloha Growers is excited to welcome Pō & the 4Fathers into the AG Ohana of unique and talented artists. Pō & the 4Fathers is a musical experience delivering a lyrical message that is powerful and clear with a modern Kanaka Maoli perspective. The band is deeply rooted in Hawaiian culture, Polynesian rhythms, and indigenous sounds, as well as the music that has moved generations like reggae, soul, blues, funk, and hip hop. They write songs of joy, hardship, pain and triumph, learned from shared experiences from the time of Pō to the present, and into the future.
Through their connection with the Mana Maoli Collective the stars above Aotearoa aligned and a convergence of indigenous Hawaiian music like no other sprung up at the Pasifika Vibes Festival. Over a kanoa of ‘awa a musical bond was established. Many influences merged into a new sound, songs were shared and written, and a deep brotherhood was formed. Pō & the 4Fathers emerged creating a new style, sound, and impactful message that represents the forward movement of Maoli music.
All members are multi-instrumentalists and accomplished vocalists, delivering different vocal styling yet harmonizing at times as one. Pō & the 4Fathers is made up of Kawai Hoe (Ukulele, Guitars, Vocals), Roman Corpuz (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Kiliona Young (Guitar, Vocals), Kalei Young (Bass, Drums, Vocals), August Lopaka Colon Jr. (Percussion), and Kalei Yamanoha (Steel, Guitar, Accordion, Trombone).
Scott Johnson, Managing Partner at Aloha Growers has some history with the band and said “I couldn’t be more thrilled to represent this amazing band. I actually met several members over 13 years ago when they were heading to Aotearoa. Here on Maui, we helped put on a fundraising event for the Mana Maole Collective in which, Kalei, Kawai, Kiliona, Roman, and Lopaka all played. They left a huge impression on me and itʻs serendipitous that we connected again and have come full circle.”
Pō & the 4Fathers will perform on Oahu on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Waiwai Collective ma Ko’olau ~ A Grand Opening. The event will be from 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM at the Ko’olau Ballrooms & Conference Center, 45-550 Kionaole Road Kaneohe, HI 96744. Tickets are $5-$20 (pay what you can) and are available on Eventbrite here. More information about the band and their upcoming shows can be found at PoAndThe4Fathers.com.
