A Benefit for The Elks National Foundation

Honolulu, HAWAI’I (December 30, 2025) – The Honolulu Elks Lodge 616 is hosting a special Tiki Tavern evening open to Elks and Non-Elks on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 7:30pm to 10:00pm with Lopaka Colon’s Sophisticated Savages.

Moloka’i’s Augie B. “Lopaka” Colón Jr. is a world-renowned Latin-Afro-Cuban-Hawaiian percussionist and bird caller, bringing an unmatched energy to every performance. A multi-Na Hōkū Hanohano Award winner, he captivates audiences with his vibrant percussive rhythms and exotic animal calls, creating a unique and dynamic experience.

His latest project, Lopaka Colón’s Sophisticated Savages, showcases his musical versatility, blending Hawaiian classics, Latin percussion, and the Polynesian sounds of exotica music inspired by Martin Denny and Arthur Lyman, whose legacy his father helped shape. The evening will showcase his unique style, blending generations of music from his work with Pure Heart, Colón, and Willie K’s Barefoot Natives.

Joining Lopaka is a sophisticated group of Hawai’i’s finest savages featuring vocalists Starr Kahaliki and Sista Robi Kalakahau, Kala’e Camarillo (ukulele, guitar, and vocals), Abe Lagrimas Jr. (vibes, ukulele), Rand Anderson (pedal steel, bass, and guitar), Garish Yarma (violin and bass), and Kit Ebersbach (keys).

The night’s Tiki vibe includes a limited menu, special Tiki spirits, and a contest for the Best Tiki Vibe Attire. Reservations are not required; a suggested donation of $20 for the evening goes to the Elks National Foundation. The Elks is a generous charitable foundation that gives millions in scholarships annually while serving as an inspiration to youth, a friend to veterans, and more.
